When I survey…

  • Alistair Crookes had been sitting in his fields, quietly keeping watch over his flock
  • Harry Driver’s cows were standing idly by, nonchalantly nomming on the cud and,

Nice to see the inhabitants observing Stationery Day so dutifully.

Juan Mann noticed that the hawthorn had joined the daffodils in delivering their Springtime splendour.

Alistair Crookes has been keeping watch over his flock by night,  and taking delivery of the first lambs of the season.

Rosie Barriclough’s been out delivering cards, letters and packages.  There’s a big one for Jenny Darling. 😉

Mrs. M.P. Robinson’s Hedge Fund has been significantly augmented with the arrival of six million trees to plant.

And the Dew Drop Inn is once again fully booked, welcoming guests for a comfortable stay.   The region is teeming with visitors eager to see the standing stones,  the castle,  the Biscuit Line and Lord Rupert’s Pile.

And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.

Not in Little Sniffy there weren’t!  Sure he’d be up on Winskill with the girls on a Summer’s evening – but in this weather? No chance!

He’d looked on the internet for the temperature in Bethlehemhe doubted there’d be many shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night there either!  He’d often thought that they must have got That birthday wrong!

No.  The girls were safely tucked away in the barn behind Hardraw Cottage.  Amos was happily curled up in front of the roaring,  apple-log fire.  And he and Emily were snuggled up on the sofa – beer in his hand, lemonade in hers – watching Serendipity on DVD.
