The Village Haul

by 3arn0wl

Following Justin Case’s recent find, Arky-ologists from the university have been down on the banks of the Bredy with their buckets and spades,  building sand castles sifting sand.

You wouldn’t believe the things they found:

  • and the bones of a cow. :/

Looks like the Moores are having a Barbie.

Fa la la la la, la la la la la la la, la, fa la la la.

by 3arn0wl

Lilly Watts flicked through her photograph album nostalgically. There she was, resplendent, and full of youthful zest, her May Queen costume looking remarkably similar to a bride’s dress.

She’d met Arthur that night, she remembered. They’d stripped him of the drab brown sack to reveal him in his skin-tight green-man garb, and she’d fallen instantly head-over-heels in lust.

They don’t do it now of course, but she wondered who it might’ve been this year. ………………….

Angel Feathers was at her Contemporary Dance class. The choreographer had got them doing a highly suggestive dance with long silk ribbons, and she hoped her glow wasn’t too obvious to the lads.

They’d had a good laugh in the end though – it seems that Kyle doesn’t know his left from his right.

Disaster for the Chorley Wanderers

… bondage for the troupe.

Queens’ birthdays

by 3arn0wl

Fingers crossed that the rain will hold off long enough this afternoon: Crispin & Jonathan are having a joint birthday party @ Cox’s Farm.

Obviously it’ll be a classy affair – as much an advert encouraging people to take afternoon tea in the orchard as a celebration of completing another perambulation around the Sun.

When they’d first met, they’d been amazed that they shared the same birthday! And after some research they decided that they’d test the Birthday Paradox each year, and invite 23 people to tea.

Constable’s stake out

by 3arn0wl

With St. Nick’s way off in the distance, its aspiring protuberance drawing the eyes heavenward toward a moody sky,  the Lower Snodding meadows were looking inviting.

In one of those barely noticed annual rites,  J.W. turned his steers out onto the Common earlier today – another indicator of the certainty that Summer follows Spring.

The cattle lowed in frisky delight at the prospect of the lush grass on the banks of the Bredy. “The grass is really good this year because we’ve had such a warm spring,” he said.

And as he watched the delightful scene before him, he added: “They’ll be alright, so long as people don’t get too close to ’em”.

Tea, anyone?

by 3arn0wl

It’s still relatively early in the season of course, but given the altitude of the thermometer’s mercury recently,  and with the Malus in full flower,  the Orchard has become a very popular place to be.

Crispin & Jonathan have done a lot of preparation over the Winter.  They’ve:

  • bought deck-chairs and tables;
  • mastered the baking of scones and cakes,  and the making of preserves;  and

And so, in some corner of a field that is forever England,  that most English of rituals takes place @ 4p.m. each day.
