A gaveled conclusion

by 3arn0wl

In stead of the Auction, people congregated for a funeral service.

The large crowd walked slowly and reverently behind Paul Bearer’s hearse & four,  from the auction house to the chapel across the town.

Four-part hymns reverberated far beyond the constraints of the little sanctuary, as voices from far and wide honoured his love of singing:  Abide with meThe day thou gavest and, perhaps most poignantly of all,  O Love that will not let me go.

Readings were given and tributes were paid to a man who was highly regarded in the community.

Later he was buried in a private service, on land he’d acquired to plant an arboretum.
