What the Dickens?

To mark the 200th, Shelly Wordsworth invited local author, Wendy Merryweather, to do two performances at the library on Tuesday.

And in a most entertaining distraction, the celebrity performed readings of her work – largely from memory. As she read aloud she assumed the various roles, imitating the accents and the physical appearance of her characters.

Her audiences were enraptured, and noted that the two-hour recital passed in the blink of an eye.

“I’ve rarely ‘ad an evenin’ of such fun,” said Tom Bell.

And everyone agreed!
