Six hands at an open door dicing for pieces of silver.

Sadly, Jack Evans had been too ill to do the auction yesterday.

There’d been much discussion about what to do. Some thought that the best thing would be to cancel it, but all the pieces had been delivered and appraised, the catalogue had been printed and the auction had been advertised. It simply had to go ahead.

But who was going to wield the gavel? Of course they couldn’t decide, so they agreed to cast lots for it:  whoever rolled the biggest number got the gig.  However,  both his daughter Beth, and his son Liam, rolled a six, so in the end they decided to share the job.

And it has to be said, under the circumstances they did magnificently.
