Dragons on the Bredy

by 3arn0wl

The Chorley paramedics took on the mighty Poppleton fire brigade earlier, in the annual bank holiday Dragon Boat Race on the Bredy.

First, the teams of six had to build their raft, before transporting themselves up the Bredy to the ford, capture the dragon, and then race back to the finish line.

Before the race began, fireman, Mike West, said: “We’re really up for this.  Wally and the lads have been in training for weeks, and we think the paramedics will have their hands full this afternoon”.

But disaster struck as the firemen’s knots began to unravel and two of their barrels broke away from the raft.  They were left clinging onto their vessel as the paramedics carried the dragon aloft over the finish line.

Chorley paramedic,  Rex Unwin, said:  “Sweet!  It’s good to get one over the fire brigade at last.”

The paramedics get to keep the dragon for the year.
