What’s Red & Black & Green all over?

by 3arn0wl

A mail-coach arrived in Poppleton with a flourish this morning!

The stagecoach driver, in full uniform, drove the carriage – pulled by four dapple-grey horses – through the town, heralded with a post-horn Gallup.

Landlord of the Dew Drop Inn, Vic Aler, has been restoring the 190 year old carriage for the last two years, and now plans to put it on display in the courtyard of the inn.

“This is a very proud moment for me,” said Mr. Aler. “It’s taken a lot of blood, sweat and tears to refurbish the coach.”

The arrival of the mail-coach created quite a stir in the Market Square, and traders and shoppers lined the street as it passed.  Looking longingly at the carriage, the manager of the Post Office next door to the Dew Drop Inn, announced that their post bus – which runs between Chorley to Poppleton twice a day – will be powered by fuel cell from next week.
